Help Us Raise The High Times Investment

High Times Magazine entered groundbreaking territory with its Pre-IPO Equity Crowd Fund raise. Beyond the “Weed Goes Wall Street” headlines and the shocked silence of officialdom, everything and nothing has changed.

Behind the counter of a liquor store selling Zig Zags, the proprietor says, “We can talk about it now.”

On the comment section of a local dispensary, a customer pens, "I do have two important concerns. Most importantly the lack of information on their website and in-store regarding the growing techniques…  …after all who wants non-organic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides used in the production of products which will be inhaled or ingested?

And a political leader and corporate executive writes, "This product cannabis has to be integrated into NAFTA, It has to have the trade potential of moving without barriers, without taxes and limits, only complying with the law, the consumer and his health."

Welcome to the world of Cannabis "De-Classified."

Although 30 states have decriminalized or legalized the cannabis plant in the United States, challenges remain. Although the earliest recorded uses date from the 3rd millennium BC, since the early 20th century, cannabis has been subject to legal restrictions. The possession, use, and sale of cannabis is illegal in most countries of the world.

While removal of cannabis from the federal Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act has not been achieved, 30 states and the District of Columbia have allowed the use of cannabis for medical purposes. As Schedule 1 restricts the use of substances that have no medical use, the basic contradiction could not be made clearer. It is up to us to lay the information foundation that will support the needs of cannabis consumers, post–classification.

For recreational users, medical patients and industry pioneers, there can be a lot on the line. Full federal legalization remains an immediate need and elusive goal.

Our collective experience and the High Times Magazine mission revolves around stories reaching a political and active audience.

This is the future identity of High Times beyond its IPO, for students, patients and professionals.

The following organizations all have stories to share, from the front lines in the cannabis revolution:

NORML
NORML's mission is to move public opinion sufficiently to legalize the responsible use of marijuana by adults, and to serve as an advocate for consumers to assure they have access to high quality marijuana that is safe, convenient and affordable. Adopted by the NORML Board of Directors, June 29, 2013

The Hood Incubator
The Hood Incubator works to increase the participation of Black and Brown communities in the legal cannabis industry. Through our three core areas of work – community organizing, policy advocacy, and economic development – we are creating a healthy and sustainable ecosystem of industry access, resources, and support that benefits, rather than harms, Black and Brown communities.

National Cannabis Industry Association
NCIA is the only national trade association advancing the interests of the legitimate and responsible cannabis industry. Our industry supports tens of thousands of jobs, tens of millions in tax revenue, and billions in economic activity in the United States. NCIA is leading the unified and coordinated campaign to ensure this emerging sector is treated fairly under federal law.

Veterans for Medical Cannabis Access
Veterans for Medical Cannabis Access is committed to protecting the rights of veteran patients and health care professionals by advocating for safe and legal access to cannabis (marijuana) for all appropriate therapeutic uses and to encourage research on cannabis as a treatment alternative.

Americans for Safe Access
The mission of Americans for Safe Access (ASA) is to ensure safe and legal access to cannabis (marijuana) for therapeutic use and research.

ASA was founded in 2002, by medical cannabis patient Steph Sherer, as a vehicle for patients to advocate for the acceptance of cannabis as medicine. With over 100,000 active members in all 50 states, ASA is the largest national member-based organization of patients, medical professionals, scientists and concerned citizens promoting safe and legal access to cannabis for therapeutic use and research. ASA works to overcome political, social and legal barriers by creating policies that improve access to medical cannabis for patients and researchers through legislation, education, litigation, research, grassroots empowerment, advocacy and services for patients, governments, medical professionals, and medical cannabis providers.

The success of the movement toward the legalization, and the clarification of individuals' rights and overall regulations regarding the use, manufacture and sale of cannabis go hand in hand.
